I purchased these sticks to play the Ion drum kit for Rock Band, and they are fantastic. I had had a problem with the standard sticks slipping from my hands due to sweat/vigorous playing, so I purchased these and they couldn't be better. There is a varnish coating that prevents the sticks from slipping and they are perfectly balanced and just the right weight. I cannot recommend these more.

The picture is of the older version - my comments apply to the recent "EVOLUTION" stick design. I've tried serveral different brands, sizes and styles of sticks. The evolution has a heavier hand weight which makes it easier to pound out loud notes while producing less hand strain. The tip is light enough to provide a delicate sound when needed. I love these sticks and may even dump the 1A's I've been using for those heavy rock numbers! Great Design!

I have tried many stick styles for playing on a Roland mesh heads. This is my current favorite. The weight, width, length and tip are just right for the mesh and the rubber cymbals. ...not sure who "Dave Weckl" is, but it's a great stick! (Sorry, Dave. I purchased these as an alternative to Promark Cool Rods (ASIN B0002CZWWW). I love the Cool Rods, but wanted something a bit more 'swishy' for some acoustic pieces. This stick gave me the sound I was looking for. I also find myself using these for late night practice because they have a fairly flat sound that does not project.
The feel is natural, and although these sticks are around 5A size in diameter (I use 7A for playing), they are lightweight and fast. You can get a little rebound off your drums (not enough to do double stroke rolls), but practically zero rebound off cymbals. For playing this is a slight annoyance, but it greatly aids your practice sessions because it makes you work.
My pair has developed a slight warp on the stick I normally use for my left hand. I play traditional grip and do a lot of left hand practice exercises. This does not detract from the quality of this stick since I have used it for hundreds of hours. Indeed, considering the amount of use this pair has and the way I put it through its paces during practice, this stick will last years of normal, light playing.
The real reason to get this stick is the subtle shade of sound it can produce. It fits nicely between traditional brushes and rods, such as the Promark Cool Rods I also use.

I love the feel of the ahead sticks, but had issues with keeping them in my hands when playing fast music lol. I use this for my banjo. It gets all the hooks evenly tightened making the banjo sound alot better. Trying to tap tune a banjo head is an exercise in futility.
