I took a chance on this product because I liked the idea of having a handmade bag for my djembe drum rather than some boring, cloned factory thing. When I visited this page, there were some interesting images and brief descriptions, but no reviews. Also, there was no "choice" or selection button to choose a particular bag, which meant that the seller would send me the product, but the sender would choose the color / design for me. I wouldn't know what the product look like until I received it--a total surprise. Nevertheless, I went ahead with the purchase because I wanted a bag; the given samples seemed to be interesting and tasteful. Well, I received my bag today, and I am very impressed with the product (see the customer images section for a view) and the seller's quick service. I actually liked the pattern / style that was chosen for me, sort of a black and clay color, with African motif; I liked it even better than the sample ones pictured! :) The bag feels sturdy, well-made, and it seems to be the perfect travel for my instrument. It's a pleasure to show! An unusual instrument deserves an unusual bag.

I love this bag, it's so different from the others. Every single drummer I know owns a stick bag but it's usually black and boring. This is just great because I love the color and my friends know which bag is mine. No more "is that my stick bag?" mistake.

Ok, so sue me for trying to save a few bucks. I just bought LP Matador bongos for $150. I thought I might save a few bucks and buy an inexpensive bag, such as this one, to tote them around. No such luck! This bag IS TINY!!! It also has no real padding to speak of. It might be good enough for children's bongos, but not much else. Now I'm out the $7 plus shipping....another $7!!! I know, I'm stupid, but at least my daughter has a nice shiny new bag to carry her barbies around. That's no joke either.....we carry around Barbies in it now!!! I wound up getting the Gator Bongo bag here on Amazon for $40 (includes shipping). Lesson learned.......steer clear of this bag for bongos purposes!!! Good for carrying dolls around in though......

I decided to go for this bag, since it seemed a bit more deluxe and I suspected it might last longer than the old-fashioned nylon Vic Firth stick bag.



It does do what it's supposed to do, and it has a vast amount of storage for sticks, mallets, tools, and notebooks. It's fairly comfortable to wear, if you really want to wear the thing. At its size though, it doesn't fit into my messenger bag when riding my bike to the studio.



The vinyl does seem rather long lasting, and the seams appear to be well sewn. The zippers appear strong and work smoothly. The vinyl does have a rather strong synthetic odor to it, that has dissipated a bit over time.



One feature that I liked are the built in lug mounts. There are two spring-loaded clips that clasp onto your floor tom lugs, putting the sticks in a nice accessible location. The bag however is so heavy that the elastic that runs through the bag is stretched, and you have to attach it to lugs that are pretty distant in order to keep the elastic taught and the bag from drooping. A couple of times, the elastic band came untied from the clip and it was a bit annoying to have to retie it, but a double-knot is sufficient for a while.



I took the bag on tour and it did the job, until one of the plastic lug mounting clips broke. Actually, the thumb-switch for recoiling the spring-loaded portion broke. From then, I had to use two hands to hold and manually open the clip far enough to get it off of the lug. Trust me, it's annoying. You don't want that to happen.



Overall, I think the bag is overkill, unless you absolutely have to carry 24 pairs of sticks, mallets, a ton of hardware, and some small notebooks. Yeah, it's not much more expensive than the base model, but the extra padding, heavy duty vinyl, and storage capacity of the bag presents a new problem. It puts extra strain on the elastic cable, making the bag droop, causing the clips to come untied, and possibly lead to the fairly cheap plastic clip eventually breaking. Vic Firth should replace the plastic clips with simple military grade metal ones, and it would make a big difference. For all the potential that this bag affords you, I think it's overkill.

I've bought these in bulk to house a custom product I sell, and I've had complaints from customers about the zipper getting stuck and the plastic clip for the shoulder strap breaking. I don't know how they'd work for cymbals but they obviously can't take much abuse.

For the price you cannot beat this case, which can hold up to ten cymbals as large as 20".



It is well constructed, sufficiently so to support the heavy weight of a bag full of cymbals, and comes with a detachable strap and built-in carrying handles.



There are a few minuses, though. First, there are no dividers, so you will need to use cloth or plastic covers for each of your cymbals to protect them. Second, there is only a single compartment, which means that your smaller splash and your hi-hat cymbals are going to get mixed in with larger ride and crash cymbals.



If you are on a budget and don't have any cymbals larger than 20", this is a good first case that will protect your investment in cymbals if you use covers to compensate for the lack of dividers and pockets. Mine came with a Zildjian cymbal pack, but I needed a case for my 22" Avedis ride, so purchased the Zildjian Gadd Session Cymbal Bag (ASIN B0002D0FXM). Although that bag is over twice the cost of this one, it is one you should consider if your budget permits.

I can't really blame the bag since it is a basic, standard stick bag as described. But if you're looking for something with many compartments or with slots to keep your sticks from sliding around, you'll be slightly let down. Also, the strap is only good for carrying in your hand, and doesn't adjust so that you can sling it over your shoulder. I have a lot of sticks which it holds just fine, but just in two big pockets inside with no separation. It has a large pocket in front and a small plastic pouch in a corner of the back which I suppose you can do something with. But if you're looking for more slots and compartments, you might want to spring for a fancier one. If you're on a budget like me though, you'll find that it will certainly hold and protect your sticks with no frills.

I recently purchased this great, practical bag. It has nice space in the main section and the outer pocket is ideal for carrying extras like wing-nuts and and extra felt disks for cymbals. Also, what is very practical, is the back-pack type straps which frees up your hands to carry other pieces of equipment. It is worth the price.

A well-made stick bag with generous inside/outside compartments, heavy duty zippers AND, most importantly, it has only a small, tastefully placed logo on it. Check out the 20-30 dollar equivalents from Zildjian, Pro-Mark, Regal....it's like they're in competition for who can place the biggest, tackiest, most obnoxious white logo on their product. On top of this they're made from 1 thin layer of nylon (or whatever) and they have crap zippers. The Meinly bag looks and feels like it could withstand an air raid. I was about to bite ther bullet and spend 50-100 dollars on a leather stick bag before I found this one. IMO it is the only stick bag in this price range worth considering for a working drummer.
