I purchased these sticks to play the Ion drum kit for Rock Band, and they are fantastic. I had had a problem with the standard sticks slipping from my hands due to sweat/vigorous playing, so I purchased these and they couldn't be better. There is a varnish coating that prevents the sticks from slipping and they are perfectly balanced and just the right weight. I cannot recommend these more.

The picture is of the older version - my comments apply to the recent "EVOLUTION" stick design. I've tried serveral different brands, sizes and styles of sticks. The evolution has a heavier hand weight which makes it easier to pound out loud notes while producing less hand strain. The tip is light enough to provide a delicate sound when needed. I love these sticks and may even dump the 1A's I've been using for those heavy rock numbers! Great Design!

I have tried many stick styles for playing on a Roland mesh heads. This is my current favorite. The weight, width, length and tip are just right for the mesh and the rubber cymbals. ...not sure who "Dave Weckl" is, but it's a great stick! (Sorry, Dave. I'm sure you're a great drummer to have your own signature sticks.)

 "My search for the perfect stick has finally ended." 2008-08-26

When I first started drumming I bought about a half a dozen different sized sticks. Everything from 2B to 7A (all Vic Firth). I finally settled on the 5As and used these for a long time... until now.



Well, I went to a music shop to purchase a few pairs of sticks and randomly pulled out the Danny Cary signature sticks. They felt big at first, but once I started drumming on the snare at the shop I immediately fell in love. These sticks feel absolutely perfect!



These sticks feel pretty big (about the same as 2B) but they have a taper in them about 1/3 of the way down from the butt-end of the stick. Place your fulcrum here and magic begins to happen. Even though the stick feels a little bit on the big side at first, you will immediately notice how light and soft they feel. The rebound is amazing. They hit relatively heavy (not too heavy) and cymbals suddenly come to life with these sticks. They are very easy to control.



I keep records of all my rudiment practices. With these sticks I immediately went up 8 BPM on my single stroke roll and 10 BPM on my paradiddles and double stroke rolls! This is great! I recently hit a wall for the last few weeks and I just couldn't bump up the metronome. Just by changing to these sticks I made a significant improvement. It's all because my finger control is much better with these trees.



Although these sticks are absolutely perfect for me, I suggest you test them out at your local music shop before purchasing. If you have average or larger hands then I bet you will fall in love too.

These scojos are used by my son for practice sticks. They can be used on most surfaces, are not as loud as regular sticks and work well. Keep an eye on the rubber tips. They can come loose. My son lost one in the band room for a couple weeks before it was found again. Its glued back on and works great again. He says he would get another pair and would recommend them.

Vic Firth Signature Series -- Danny Carey nylon tip



Designed by one of my favorite drummers and notably one of the best in drumming history, the Vic Firth Danny Carey Signature Series stick w/nylon tip is, in my opinion, the best stick on the market and here's why:



1. Before I discovered this stick, I was playing with regular old, VF 5a rock hickory and noticed that the wood tips chunked off very easily so I switched to ProMark 747 Japanese Oak and also their Neil Peart sig. stick cuz oak is more resilient than hickory. I liked the ProMarks but noticed that after playing, my hands were aching and sore. My issue of DRUM! magazine featuring Chad Smith had an article about relieving hand soreness and offered solutions to avoid pain in the future one of which was to switch to a bigger stick (by bigger I mean bigger in diameter) and I tried the VF Danny Carey's and VIOLA, I was cured!

2. After playing these great sticks, I still noticed that the tip were chunking off rapidly so I switched once again, but to the same stick with the NYLON tip. Now, these babies give my a lot more mileage out of each pair than the ones I've used in the past.



If you're a rock, metal, or any other progressive musical style drummer and seek a change in the type of stick or, if you're going through what I did in regards to sore and painful hands after playing, you owe it to yourself to try these out. Also, get a pair of the nylon tip and a pair of the wood tip so you can make the comparison then incorporate into your arsenal.

These sticks are very nice! They're quite similar to your standard 5A pitch-paired sticks, but they're just a little bit shorter. Playing these sticks with the blunt side out gives you a tremendous, focused and powerful stroke, with a nice beefy feel. Meanwhile, the tapered tip side provides a gracefully smooth and controllable response... A very versatile pair of sticks indeed!



You just can't beat these for the price, so I bought two pairs... I should have bought a dozen!!! Maybe I will if these break any time soon....

 "Great Sticks" 2008-07-03

I have been drumming for a long time and these are the best sticks I have ever used. I do not know if it is Buddy's spirit in them or just that they are another fine product from Vic Firth. But I do know that the feel, balance, bounce, and weight of these sticks provide a real sweet spot in my drumming that is missing when I play with other sticks.



I played mainly with my first pair of these until they were a bit worn and then left them alone for a time. When I picked them back up, I rediscovered a level of agility and precision that had been absent from my playing with the other sticks in my bag. Groovy.

Any drummer, no matter what kind will love these sticks.

I have used them everywhere from concert snare solos to marching as quad sticks. They feature a unique tip that helps for better rebound, and a white overcoat. The best thing that I can say about these sticks is that they are extremely durable!! I have had 7 or 8 pairs, and I have only broken 1 or 2 the rest just got so splintery and crappy looking that I had to replace them.

There isn't a whole lot I can say about these other than they are the best set of drum sticks that I have ever owned in my entire life to include all future sets that I could not possible know of yet.

These are probally the best sticks I've ever had. A friend recommended these to me and ever since I have used them. These drumsticks are very light and thin, so therefore they are best for quick, fast, and long pices. They're also good for long drumrolls and smashing the symbals. My expirience with these sticks has been great! If you buy these I would recommend the ones with the wooden tips. Where I bought mine they were expensive, but on Amazon.com you can get them for a decent price. Compared to my old ones these are way better.
